“Stewart was instrumental in helping me prepare and focus to consistently perform at a high level during games and practices. Once I began coaching, I used many of the techniques he taught me to help my players. Even though my playing career is over, I still stay in touch with Stewart and use his advice in my professional and personal life.”
ABBY PYNE
Abby worked with coach Flaherty during her youth soccer career, both on the field and with her college search process that ended in her playing for NCAA D1 power Duke University. During her youth career, Abby played on the U14, U15, U17 and U18 national teams. During her college career in the ACC, Pyne did more work with Flaherty as she recovered from multiple knee surgeries. Here is a feature on Abby during her Duke career;
“Having known Stewart as a coach, mentor, and friend over the last 10 years of my life, I have grown to fully appreciate how rare it is for a coach to know what individual players need to hear to be their best selves. When I was riding high and on youth national teams, Stewart drove me to be better. More importantly, when I was low, and recovering from knee injury after knee injury, Stewart kept me sane. He is brilliant at helping you reach peak performance mentally as an athlete and equally brilliant at helping you handle the nuances of recovering from injuries. I cannot recommend to him enough to players who are seeking to reach the next level or who are looking to best handle setbacks.”
KAM ARNOLD
Kam has worked with coach Flaherty for two years and the pair have a strong working relationship. The primary focus of work was goal setting, prefight mental rituals and visualization. Other work done was to help Kam align his entire life to allow for greater success and time allocation to his fighting. During 2018, Kam became the NEF Bantamweight champion.
JAMES BEATTIE
James worked with coach Flaherty in his younger years as a developing player. James went on to play in the English Premier League, Scottish Premier League and UEFA Champions League as well as representing the England national team, scoring over 100 goals at the professional level in Britain.
“I have known Stewart for over 20 years and his knowledge of sports performance and the mindset required is thorough and impressive. Not only has he learned it, he continues to apply it on a daily basis in his field of work. He is honest and has an insatiable appetite for success.
He is someone I trust implicitly as a sounding board and has often given me ideas on how I approach my own coaching.”
